The Krankie Cargo Bike Story

The Krankie was born out of the desire to provide a fun, practical, low impact form of transport for local trips, the kids school run, the work commute, a trip to the dog park, picking up some bags of sand from the hardware, or just getting around.

The first metal was cut in late 2014, building to sustained development activity of designing, fabricating, assembling and testing a number of cargo bike configurations.

A dozen or so prototypes after the first cut, the Krankie has emerged.

Taking its name from Mt Killiekrankie, inland from the NSW mid-north coast. The ranges surrounding Mt Killiekrankie were the childhood playground of Krankie designer and founder, Andrew Graf. The name to him represents the idea of coming home, listening to your heart and doing something that you love that can benefit others. Embarking on this development journey was about rediscovering that youthful joy and using this as a guide for the rider experience.

The Krankie achieves this, bringing fun to the mundane. Wind in the hair, light exercise, connecting with community, gold pass parking spots every time, smiles and “whoa! mum look at that” responses from onlooking children, plus of course getting a bit gnarly in the corners. Just a few things you can expect when riding your Krankie.
